WHAT IS HIFU?
HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound. It is a non-invasive medical procedure that uses focused ultrasound waves to generate heat and target specific tissues deep within the body. The heat from the ultrasound waves destroys or ablates the targeted tissues without damaging the surrounding areas.
HIFU is the only treatment to reach 4.5mm below the skin. Laser reaches 1.5mm, Radio Frequency can reach 3mm but HIFU has precise energy spacing and reaches 4.5mm which is the same depth a surgical face lift would reach.
HIFU treats all areas of the face, neck and decolletage, it is particularly good for sagging jowls, nasolabial folds and crepey skin. HOW DOES HIFU WORK?
HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy to target the layers of skin just below the surface. It can penetrate both the dermis and the superficial muscular aponeurotic system. These are the same layers that are tightened during conventional facelift surgery. The ultrasound energy causes the tissue to increase in temperature. Once the cells in the targeted area reach a certain temperature it stimulates the cells to produce more collagen — a protein that provides structure to the skin.
As we age, the synthesis of collagen in the dermis decreases, causing wrinkles and sagging skin.
Focused ultrasound waves deliver heat energy directly to the demis and the subcutaneous fat layer.
This heat energy causes targeted cell damage, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.
Through the regeneration of collagen, wrinkles are reduced and skin becomes firmer and tighter.

DOES HIFU REALLY WORK?
Yes! It absolutely works. It is also FDA Approved and has been vigorously tried and tested in order to receive the accreditation. In addition to having FDA approval, we can honestly say that we have never seen results like it from such a simple and non invasive procedure.
HOW LONG DOES A HIFU TREATMENT TAKE?
Anything from 30 minutes to 2 hours. It depends on what areas you are having treated.
WHAT HAPPENS AFETR A HIFU TREATMENT?
You may experience slight redness but this will dissipate after a few hours. You could experience temporary bruising or numbness but again, this will go after a few days. After the treatment, we advise to drink plenty of water, regular moisturising and no facials or sun exposure within 48 hours.
WHEN WILL I SEE A DIFFERENCE AFTER A HIFU TREATMENT?
You will see a difference immediately in the tightening of your muscles but the full effects will not be apparent for 12 - 18 weeks. This is the time it takes for the natural collagen in your skin to work its magic.
WHAT AREAS CAN HIFU TREAT?
Eyes, brows, lower face including lasonabial folds, jaw Line, neck, decolletage and hands.
IS A HIFU TREATMENT PAINFUL?
You can certainly feel the treatment but it is by no means painful or unbearable. You will feel heat and a slight tingling sensation. It is a strange sensation as the treatment is working below the skin and you can feel the ulstrasound. All of our clients happily chat through the whole treament.
HOW MANY HIFU TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
One treatment is enough to have excellent results and most people do not need a further treatment for 12 months. You can have up to 3 treatments to achieve optimum results but this depends on your skin structure and would require a full consultation. It is most common to have the one treatment every 9-12 months.
WHO IS HIFU SUITABLE FOR?
The treatment is suitable for anyone who has mild to moderate skin laxity. We recommend that you be at least 30 years old to see benefits from the treatment. Anyone experiencing lowered brows, jowls, sagging skin on the neck, lines on the face and chest are all perfect candidates for this treatment.
WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME AFTER HIFU TREATMENT?
None whatsoever. You are even able to have the treatment in your lunch break and head back to work.
