HOW IT WORKS

1

The laser (light amplification by the stimulated emission of radiation) is selected according to the colour of the tattoo, and passed over the area to be treated.

2

The light passes through the epidermis and 'hits' the tattoo ink. Specific wavelengths of light will target specific colours, leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected.

3

The energy from the laser light, instantly heats the tattoo ink 'smashing' it into smaller particles.

4

Phagocytes in the blood stream engulf the fragmented particles and disperse them through the lymphatic system, causing the tattoo to fade.

FAQs

Does it hurt?
Most people describe the sensation as feeling like a hot pinprick or the flick of an elastic band. Certain parts of the body are more sensitive than others but the treatment is over very quickly.

How long will it take?
Each treatment takes 5-30 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo.

How many treatments will I need?
This depends on the age of the tattoo, density of colour, type of ink used and your skin. Amateur tattoos and semi-permanent makeup can take just 1-6 sessions whereas professional tattoos can take up to 15. Treatments are spaced 6-12 weeks apart. This time is needed for the body to effectively disperse the ink particles. Treating the same area more often than this will not remove the tattoo more quickly, but is more likely to cause scarring.

How does the skin look after treatment?
An instant whitening of the skin is seen immediately after the treatment but this fades quickly. The area may be red and swollen for up to 48 hours and in some cases the skin will blister.

Will I be left with a scar?
In most cases the skin will return to its pre-tattoo condition but there is a chance of scarring. The skin may also lose pigment and be difficult to tan but this generally improves with time. At LA Perfection we offer a range of skin treatments that can reduce scarring and stimulate melanin production.

Who cannot have the treatment?
We cannot treat you if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, under 18, taking roaccutane or suffering from certain medical conditions.

Can all tattoos be removed?
Complete removal is never guaranteed with any method. We have a Q-Plus C which incorporates both a Q-switched Nd:YAG Laser System operating at 1064/532nm AND a Q-Switched Ruby Laser System operating at 694nm. This enables us to treat all tattoo colours.

Can you remove semi-permanent makeup?
Our tattoo removal specialist, Lyndsey Allen, is a cosmetic tattooist and is one of the few people in this country that can remove semi-permanent makeup using laser. She trained with industry expert Lorena Oberg who has pioneered the use of laser to remove semi-permanent makeup.

Can I have laser if I have had other removal methods?
Yes you can have laser removal if you have had other removal methods such as Rejuvi.

How much does it cost?
The cost depends on the size of the tattoo. We offer free consultations to work out a price and treatment plan.

Do I need a patch test?
Yes you do need a patch at least 48 hours before your treatment. Patch tests and consultations are free.

What are the risks?
Risks include blistering, scarring, infection and hyperpigmentation.

TESTIMONIALS

Consultation was so helpful. Zoe explained the whole process very simply- warts and all and she filled me with confidence that she knows exactly what she is doing. The test patch was great as well, it's nice to know what the actual thing is going to be like and I was pleased to know that it is bearable!

EMILY

Just had my final removal session, after just under a year of treatment I can definitely recommend LA Perfection and particularly Zoe for the great job she has done and for making me feel welcome everytime!

CHRISTOPHER

This was my first ‘proper’ appointment, and as I arrived feeling a little nervous, I was greeted with smiles and reassurance. Everyone was professional and were able to answer my questions thoroughly. I am so glad I booked with LA perfection to have this treatment.
